MBSR
MBSR teaches practical mindfulness skills to help people relate differently to pain, stress, and emotional problems. Participants learn to observe physical sensations, thoughts, and emotions with awareness and without judgment, reducing reactivity and avoidance. This shift may help ease chronic pain, lower stress by breaking automatic stress responses, and support depression recovery by increasing emotional regulation, self-compassion, and resilience in daily life.

What happens during MBSR?
An MBSR course runs over 8 weeks and combines guided mindfulness practices and learning. Participants are taught practices such as the body scan, mindful movement, sitting meditation, and awareness of breath, thoughts, and emotions. Sessions explore how stress, pain, and low mood arise in everyday life and how mindfulness can change habitual reactions into more skillful responses. There is an emphasis on home practice, gentle inquiry, and applying mindfulness to daily activities, helping participants build resilience and self-awareness over time.
Research has shown that mindfulness and meditation practices can reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, distress, and can strengthen emotional regulation and wellbeing. Neuroimaging studies have also found that regular mindfulness practice is associated with changes in brain regions involved in attention, emotional processing, and the stress response. You'll be taught the basics of the science of stress and physiology to help empower you to tap into your body and get to know yourself and your responses.
MBSR is accessible to people of all abilities — from those completely new to mindfulness, to individuals with limited mobility, as well as those with prior experience who are looking for a structured course or an opportunity to deepen their practice.
